The thing is, buyer’s remorse is VERY real, and us human beings are really complicated creatures. As much as we want something, we’re equally afraid of going through with it (especially when it involves money).
Once your client gets off the phone, fear doubt and uncertainty are bound to kick in, and if they let their fears take over from what they really want, it’s easier to back out then move forward.
