In person and face to face conversations are one of THE best ways to build your business and to attract clients. Even better if you can be the speaker.
However there’s one aspect of meeting people that carries a lot of baggage – and that is the dreaded business coffee date.
I don’t know how many times I’ve heard from entrepreneurs that they feel discouraged, and that they are a waste of time.
- They only wanted to talk about themselves
- They wanted to recruit me into their business opportunity
- This person has no money, will never be a client, and never be a referral partner
- They just wanted MY contacts
I get it. When I first started my business, I went on every single coffee date I was invited to because I hoped that they would create business for me.
And likely you too have heard that business is built on relationships, and so you too, go out and do the dreaded coffee dates. And just like I did, you end up frustrated as you’re no further ahead.
The thing is, coffee dates can turn into amazing opportunities to build PROFITABLE relationships and expand your network if you set them up correctly. (And in my opinion most of it can be done on the phone as a virtual coffee date)
